Marvel Universe

I’ve got a little thing for super heroes. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be able to fly faster than a speeding bullet, who wouldn’t want to drive the Batmobile, or shoot spider webs out of their body and use it to swing from building to building?

I’ve always really liked Batman. If I had enough money, I could be Batman. Plus, he hides on the edges of the law. He’s mysterious. I like that.

But I don’t nerd out on it or anything like that. I just enjoy the mystery. The escape from reality. The cool special effects of the movie translations to these comics.

And now, in September, I can watch these Super Heroes come to life at the Moda center right here in Portland, Oregon during Marvel Universe. LIVE: Age of Heroes.

This all-new show marries Spider-Man, the Avengers, “And many more in a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before Loki gains control. This ancient artifact would allow Loki to achieve his eternal quest to crown himself ruler of the universe. Witness the cutting-edge special effects and immersive video projection in this legendary live adventure.”

    Count me in.

But, I’ve never been to an event like this, and since I don’t want to spoil the surprise for myself for my son (he will be firmly in tow) I can only speculate. Will this be like ComiCon? Will I need to come in my finest super hero regalia and, if so, who? My previously mentioned affection for Batman makes the most sense, but, what if I threw myself for a loop and went dressed as Aquaman? Are these characters even part of the Marvel Universe? My brothers would know.

Is this a movie like situation, or is it a bunch of super heroes running around and doing super hero type stuff? Are tricks and stunts and comedy part of the equation, or is this a stuff my face with pop corn and hot dogs situation?

I don’t know. I won’t know until I arrive. I could end up looking like a dork dressed like Batman, or be equally as dorky dressed like little ole me. One thing I love about events like this in Portland is that it doesn’t matter, You can have fun and be different and be yourself and, while you may look dorky, no one will judge you. Either way, it will be a fun time, and some quality father/son time. I’m super looking forward to it.

This live action show is taking place at the Moda Center from September 22-24th.  For more information, please visit
