Mothers Day Cruise

When you think about it, moms are the easiest people in the world to shop for. Once you have grown and moved away, all they really want is to spend some time with you. With Mothers’ Day, maybe you’re like me and you nearly forgot about the day when we pay homage to those special ladies that gave us birth, cleaned up our scraped knees, hugged us when we lost our first love, and were there to loan you a few bucks when you were short on your rent.

So, I was tempted to do the same ole thing out of sheer forgetfulness, but, this didn’t see fair—after all, this is a woman that goes all out on my birthdays (even though I am well into my thirties) and decorates her house like Santa’s Village at Christmas time. She deserves better.

So this year, I am taking her for a brunch and a cruise aboard one of Portland’s famous ships, The Portland Spirit (with its breathtaking urban views) or the Columba Gorge Sternwheeler (with the awe inspiring Cascade Locks and Gorge Views).

Offering a brunch or a three course dinner cruise, these ships provide a plethora of options to help celebrate moms. With the Columbia Gorge as your backdrop, these cruises are sure to provide your mom the reprieve from the doldrums of daily life aboard the Portland Spirit or Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, with her favorite people (presumably, her children).

Give your mother what she really wants and spend your afternoon on a Mother’s Day Brunch cruise and relish in an extravagant buffet with magnificent views. A five star buffet aboard one of the most beautiful places on earth? This is a can’t miss idea. Or, stay for dinner and watch the sunset in one of the most awe-inspiring spots in the world, Cascade Locks.

But maybe you want to stay closer to home. I understand. Board in Portland and, set sail against the sparkling lights of the city, join a dinner cruise complete with a freshly prepared three course meal by five star chefs.

This is just one way to show our mom that she is so important to us. The memories are sure to last forever and, when mom wants that picture against the backdrop of the setting sun or the city lights, let her have her moment. After all, it’s her day.
